Once again, and as stated by me loooooong ago, It's going to become Humanities biggest enemy and will cause untold damage unless managed which it's not.
maybe thats the point, think about how long PC's have been around, why is it now appearing?, unless its to distract us subtly
and just like the cellphone, get us to slowly accept it as part of life.

Option 2. I reckon it needs a good few more years though

Perhaps the haters should give up on the last millennium's advancements and go live in under a rock because AI isn't going anywhere

Possibility 1: its a bubble
Possibility 2: it's not and it takes over some boring aspects of your job

My view is that it's very useful in some fields, not so much in others and shouldn't touch creative or artistic work in any way.

Software dev = very effective.
Fact checking = no.
Use for art, music or writing = hell no.

Please have you seen Jackson Pillock's pics? Or heard some heavy metal rock band? Anybody can do that schit let alone AI

I am not going to say '**** it, let it rot'. It has its uses, and it can be helpful in the right hands. I still find it to be narrow in terms of context, I am still faster and way cleaner when it comes to solving coding related problems. It gives me a lot more debugging work though.

It has led me to practice coding by hand in my free time though, which I enjoy.

Possibility 3: The world runs out of resources and AI lives on
We've trained LLM's on text and it's nice.

You and I are learning machines, your eyes send about 10 million bits of data per second to your brain. And that's just for vision.
That happens from when you are small.
You see snow and instinctively know things about it. It's cold and fluffy and you know what a snowflake looks like etc etc etc.
AI doesn't know any of this.

And to train it, especially on video etc, requires gi-bloody-nourmous processing power hence the push for more data centers and every bloody GPU and memory chip.

Other: I am quite intrigued by and finding great value in AI but also think that this current push to have the most data centers to run what is basically a bunch of beta's is really stupid.
