Small South African town is days away from ‘Day Zero’

I think a lot of areas in SA have this problem....
Doesnt seem to be much you can do about it....

She said that there have been repeated calls for assistance.
However, residents have been blamed for vandalising the pump.
 
Dimakatso Elizabeth Modise probably, as they all do, arrange a urgent water tanker deal and pocket millions.
 
Until recently, my grandmother used to live in Theunissen, about 36kms from Winburg, and they've had problems with water for more than 10 years. Same municipality under the ANC, and they always blame everyone else. They'd go for up to 4 weeks with little to no water even though the municipal bills got paid by most of the town's people. The problem, just like here, are the townships that border the town who have less than 10% of their people paying what they owe.

It's an ANC victory
 
But are they an important town?
 
Watching a BBC report on this "Super El nino" and it's impact for 2027 with extreme weather, looks like drought coming our way.

More likely the "water Mafia" vandalising and we all know they are in all probability those who would profit from water tankers and that is the municipality themselves.

Isn't this the case for pretty much the whole Free State

I was following the irrigation canal from Erfinisdam on Google Maps for a bit, its depressing how many inoperative farms there are along its path.
