Afriforum demands to know why petrol is so expensive in South Africa

Maybe they can ask Oom Donnie about it during their next Washington trip.
Is he asking why the fuel price is high just for white Afrikaners?

Your hatred for Afriforum is blinding you to the bigger picture here.

Jeez you're sensitive. Who said anything about the fuel price being high only for white Afrikaners? 🙈

It's kinda obvious why the fuel price is so high at the moment - something to do with Donnie's middle eastern war. There's no great mystery there, so they should speak to him about it next time they're there.

I always thought Afriforum was for ALL afrikaners and color was not an issue at all. I am so disappointed now.

Afriforum has to be some of the dumbest fcks in the world.

By every imaginable metric, petrol is more expensive for the poorest South Africans.
In the grouping of "poorest South Africans" you will find very few white Afrikaners.

Is it Trumps fault we are currently paying R10.00/litre in taxes and levies?

The Iran situation explains higher than normal global oil prices, but it doesn’t address our local excessive pricing, nor does the conflict have anything to do with our levies and taxes.

I thought the government set the fuel price for everyone - and we all pay the same for petrol, and the same bulk price for diesel

All countries have some element of fuel levy and SA's isn't unduly high.

The reason for the high oil price currently is abundantly obvious.

I can’t believe you can actually say something like that with a straight face.

No one is asking why oil prices are currently high. Thats not the real problem here.

We are a poor, third world country, comparing our fuel levies to those of wealthy developed nations (who also actually get something back for the tax spend), and implying ours aren’t that high is madness.

Ok, speak to Afriforum about it.

I’m speaking to you, about your comment on a public forum.

Why don’t you respond to my critique of your viewpoint? You clearly feel strongly about it and feel you are correct?

Because it all sounds like a scam to me, so I'm not getting into it.

Can you perhaps provide more recent data - data that takes into account the R3/litre extra levies added in this year.

Also, countries like Zim and Mozambieque have thier own unique issues driving their higher fuel prices - I am interested in our govermnets greed and insatiable desire for more tax revenue to squander, and what impact that has on the cost of living for everyday South Africans.
