Telkom said it recognised the benefits of transitioning away from physical SIMs, but said the switch to eSIMs must be customer-driven, not prescribed by mobile operators.

I notice on Facebook marketplace a lot of previously stolen iPhones that said WiFi only (bypassed) now have the same sellers marketing them as eSIM only. It could be to con the people saying well it will only work with an eSIM only for you to find out later that doesn’t work either. Sims are fine with me. I only use an eSIM when abroad. Holafly lately.

Most low end and mid range phones don't have esim.

So until Telkom starts selling phones with esim, can't see how esim adoption will increase.
