Xneelo Johannesburg shared email incident: business mail unusable since 1 September

5 days downtime means whoever is running the show over there is totally clueless.
I got that exact impression on day 2, reading their status updated, thought perhaps the fellow running the upgrade walked out and left the tea lady with the keyboard.....

I going to be moving.....

Day seven.

Lucky us. Xneelo will provide another update at 15:00.

Nothing says “business-grade email” quite like this circus.

It is sad this occured, as they will lose business from it. But operationally from what i read a few issues stand out.

With the cost of Office 365, Google Mail and others these days i think many people will make the jump. We've been on Office365 for almost 7 years now with no failures or mail loss.

End of an era for a well known hosting company in South Africa
Xneelo goes from hero to zero

Xneelo’s 13:05 update is considerably worse than the corporate padding suggests.

Only 50% of affected servers have been moved to premium storage. That storage tier is now full, so the remaining 50% cannot be migrated. Those servers are being tuned in place, with no restoration ETA, while Xneelo tests whether the system can survive normal Monday business traffic.

They have also changed their wording from saying no email was lost to saying they have “no evidence” that email was lost.

After six days, this is not a recovery. It is half the affected infrastructure restored, half stranded on the problem tier, and no confirmation that it can handle normal demand.
