A Boeing 767-300 cargo aircraft belonging to Amazon went off the runway at Miami International Airport on Sunday, video footage seen by The Jerusalem Post showed.

The aircraft departed from San Juan, Puerto Rico, the Federal Aviation Administration noted.

A ground stop is in effect at the airport, according to an FAA alert.

Pilot Blog incident analysis:

Edit: Pretty damning pilot errors, with conclusive data and video footage. Unstable approach in bad weather, too high and too fast, landed halfway along the runway, crosswind lifted the left landing gear wheels which prevented the thrust reversers from deploying. Pilots should have gone around rather than trying to force a landing. Condolences to the casualties on the ground.

Looks like yet another case of 'tunnel vision' & 'get-there-itis' - why didn't they just GO AROUND if it was an un-stabilised approach? It's not as if there were any passengers that would have been slightly inconvenienced by a second attempt at landing with a more stabilised approach...

It is also worth noting the aircraft is not Amazon operated but by 21 Air.
