Funny how the "far left" party is willing to work with the "far right" one.

People have no clue what left and right means anymore. Right just means racist now, because apparently communists on the left like Malema can't be racist...

BSW aren't really thinking of working with the AfD. They will abstain I believe. Basically they won't act as a blocking minority.

BSW will not form a coalition with AfD.

But BSW state leaders announced they will not block the AfD's candidate, Ulrich Siegmund, from becoming state premier.

Rather than forming a coalition, the BSW plans to abstain during parliamentary votes, potentially clearing the path for the AfD to run a minority government.

Abstaining is still helping, just without the political association of a coalition. The net effect is reducing their parliament by 5 seats, giving AfD an effective majority...
 
The funny thing is possibly experiencing the sight of the centre-right CSU voting in lock-step with the Social Democrats, the Linke (crazy leftist party) and the Greens just to oppose AfD. The funny thing is CSU voters would probably have AfD as their 2nd preference than any of the left-wing parties. No wonder the CSU is in such a bind.

Austria probably best placed (they've had the FPO in government before). France is looking good as well although just be weary their electoral system works against Le Pen because she always needs to get a majority in the 2nd round of the presidential election (50%+1). But Le Pen is in a super strong position overall.
 
The CDU should definitely take the offer. Completely bonkers if they don't agree to a deal.


The hard-Right Alternative for Germany (AfD) is seeking a pact with Friedrich Merz’s Christian Democrats so it can form a regional government.

The AfD has been trapped by a firewall policy in which Germany’s centrist parties refuse to co-operate with it at the state or federal level. But after a sweeping election victory on Sunday night, cracks are starting to appear.

Rebels in the German chancellor’s party want to lend their support to the hard-Right AfD, The Telegraph understands.

Maximilian Krah, a senior MP for AfD, said Christian Democratic Union (CDU) politicians in the eastern state of Saxony-Anhalt were considering switching support to his party.

The rebels, who have not been identified, were so infuriated by Sunday night’s “catastrophic” election result that they wanted to breach the firewall with the AfD, he suggested.

“There are some in the Christian Democrats who, because of this catastrophic result, would prefer to join us instead of the loser parties,” Mr Krah told The Telegraph
