New Audi A2

@FiestaS before i make a thread for him have you made one already?

There is a kinda thread for the legend that is Armstrong :p

The 2027 Audi A2 e-tron is not the A2 we remember - and it finally makes sense

Back in 1999, Audi created a brilliant, lightweight oddity that almost nobody wanted to buy. The original A2 was an engineering tour de force - an aluminum teardrop that sipped fuel, thumbed its nose at automotive excess, and arrived roughly a quarter of a century before the public was ready to appreciate it. Dealers could barely give them away, and the nameplate was quietly packed away into Ingolstadt's vault of noble experiments.

Fast forward to today, and the four rings have officially dusted off the moniker for the 2027 Audi A2 e-tron. Only this time, the cult-hero econobox returns not as an exotic spaceframe laboratory, but as a sharply tailored electric compact crossover that might land in the absolute sweet spot of modern European motoring.

The original A2 was a fanatical exercise in weight loss that barely troubled the weighbridge at under a single tonne. Unfortunately, the new electric iteration tips the scales at a rather stout 1,840 kg to 1,930 kg (depending on the model). In petrolhead arithmetic, that makes it roughly twice as porky as its ancestor - a reminder of the battery penalty defining our current era.

The purist in me mourns the lost aluminum featherweight, but the pragmatist has to admire how Audi leaned into the original car's quirky DNA. You get that trademark arched roofline, the blunt snout, and the split-glass rear tailgate - all stretched over a hunkered-down, cheeky four-square stance that looks like it means business.

Under that cleverly sculpted metal, you will not find Audi's wallet-emptying PPE architecture, nor the front-wheel-drive MEB+ platform earmarked for the coming wave of budget runabouts like the Cupra Raval or Volkswagen ID. Polo. Instead, Audi went hunting through the corporate pantry and built the A2 on the tried-and-tested rear-wheel-drive MEB platform that underpins the Skoda Elroq and Volkswagen ID.3.

That means traditionalists can kiss any dreams of a mechanical Quattro badge goodbye - your driving force heads exclusively to the rear rubber. It also means this compact runabout inherits a generous 2,770 mm wheelbase, matching its larger sibling, the Q4 e-tron, and pushing all four wheels right out to the furthest corners of the bodywork.

Urgh, those huge bezels on the screens ( we are in 2026 Audi! ). Otherwise, good looking car!

The new Audi A2 e-tron is already in production

Audi unveiled the new A2 e-tron just a few days ago, and today the company has already started production of the new model at its plant in Ingolstadt, Germany. The first units rolled off the assembly line in the presence of Bavarian Minister-President Markus Söder.

Audi says the development of the new A2 e-tron was shortened by a whopping 21 months compared to "previous vehicle projects". This was made possible by the use of fewer parts and measures to reduce complexity, space requirements, and "logistics effort".

For the first time, Audi is applying the "strings-of-pearls" production principle in Ingolstadt, after successfully implementing it at its plant in Neckarsulm, Germany. This enables the sequence of customer orders to be determined six days before the assembly starts.

This reduces complexity because a fixed sequence lets suppliers directly produce parts in the correct order and pack them in a designated container. Audi is increasing the cost-efficiency of the production process because storage and sequencing areas are no longer required.
