Takealot has 11 new names

This is what they think will keep them in business? An attempt at reminding customers that it's South Africa, that it's not a faraway American company? South Africans don't care. They only care about cost, and Takealot is just not there, especially now that Prime is here.

Please let all the Afrikaans haters get all the Afrikaans boxes just to rub it in!

Cost to some , but i prefer knowing if i'm getting the real thing or some Chinese fake.

But then the English would be Taketoomuch.

You can't drop things into a direct translator and expect it to be the most accurate translation. Vatbaie could be takemany, takemuch, and I can go on.

EDIT: On second thought, I am going to agree with you. I am reading too much into brand meaning rather than linguistics.

They are vertically integrated, whereas Amazon in SA is not. They capture far more of the value chain.

Which means they don't have the problem of their courier companies handing a parcel to the neighbour's gardener and then telling me the package is delivered.

And they have collection points in basically every town economically worth having them. I think Amazon will have a difficult time playing catchup IMO.

You mean exactly what Takealot has been doing for years before Amazon came here...?

Remember this when Takealot is gone or severely diminished in 10 years.

But te veel is too much or too many.

Vatteveel would be totally incorrect. There is no other accurate Afrikaans translation for takealot than vatbaie. Baie covers a lot, much and many (and very)
