Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 7

Hi @CoolEscalator my internet connectivity just died. I've logged #COOL-20260902-2770193.

Currently using my Vodacom 4G/5G package from Cool Ideas as backup.

Thanks.
HI there, Thanks our support team will be in contact as soon as possible.
But if the broadband and service lights are off, then this is likely an outage yet to be comunicated.
Our team will report accordingly :)

Thanks, @CoolEscalator. Other residents in my area are also reporting that their connectivity is off.

Hi @CoolEscalator

Can you help here please: #COOL-20260905-2774014

Convinced client to move across due to appalling service from another ISP.
Move will probably be beginning of November due to notice period.

Problem is I believe there is a fault with the line. Its openserve..
I want to solve the line for the client prior so that it is smoothe from here.. She cant wait till November.

Can you help me with pppoe logins and then get a team member to help troubleshoot (bypass router etc) so that we can get openserve to fix the line please!

Thanks

Hi there. Sure no problem.
Troubleshooting will unfortunately be limited in this regard, due to the line being with another ISP. But at least having a Test Account, you can prove to the existing ISP that the issue is either the line or the ISP itself (if no issues via the test account)

I will share the test details on PM

HI Team

Please can you check if 196.50.192.0/18 (MetroFibre) follows the best path for routing I see it is going via Seacom when doing a trace.

I would think it could go directly via MetroFibre via NAPAfrica

Before it use to get picked up directly

If I check via other ISP's first AS shop is Metrofibre

You can see you get the same result from your looking glass

HI there, yes I see the route to 196.50.192.0/18 is advertised to us via Seacom,
Can you advise what kind of issues you are experiencing in this regard? Would you also mind sharing(PM) the IP you are having issues with in that /18?

So I have a few IPsec tunnels to one of our clients firewalls and over the last week the connection just feels like it slows down and it is sluggish to open stuff via the tunnel.

When I bring up the tunnel over 5G connection it is fine with no issues

They have MFN at their sites

Normally the routing was going to MFN directly

I can share some ip's if needed but in general the routing to all MFN goes via Seacom.

So was just wondering if you could have it route directly again if possible
