DStv sports-only package for R199.50 per month

Got to wonder though, is this their way of quietly sayin' go ahead, share with your friend in another city :unsure:
 
The writing is on the wall for DVB-S.

It is practically certain that MultiChoice will eventually transition away from satellite transmissions toward internet-based delivery (OTT/IPTV), though a complete shutdown won't happen overnight.

The shift is essentially a matter of "when," not "if." Satellite will likely be phased out only once broadband penetration and stability across Sub-Saharan Africa reach a tipping point where abandoning the dish won't result in massive subscriber churn.

People have been saying that will happen for years already. I mean this is Africa after all, probably still using rotary dial phones in some areas..

Probably decades away from this. The STP boxes will probably transition to on-demand storage for content that's then scheduled or available on-demand and then live events will be the only broadcasts. Most likely broadcasts will be hybrids of live and stored content. It would be far more efficient and less bandwidth intensive.

This. If the rules are properly applied - i.e. sharing within the same household - the only winner is DStv with a lower credit risk, namely they still get half the money if one fails to pay. This is not intended for password sharing (which could/would happen even without this "offer").
 
Sports package without all the sport. All they did was rename an existing package to sports...
