Your info was probably deleted in line with POPIA as it was more than five years ago.
This is only applicable from the time of account closure. ie, if he had closed his account, the 5 year clock will start from then

As an accountable institution, they would still be required to keep this data for an active account.

Why is Bidvest Bank not name-checked in the title?

Because if they put the name in the title, then every banked reader won't be baited into clicking through to the article to check if they're affected. All those extra clicks look pretty in advertising sales decks, even if those readers didn't have a legit interest beyond that fear mongered by the headline.

You'll see it in most of their headlines over the past years, discussed often on the forum.
Sad to see a once-respected platform stoop to all-too-common industry lows.

So obvious question is why does a third party hold this data? Again FICA proving more a help for criminals than keeping people safe.

I got the opposite.. Makes it really hard to surface in searches by burying it in the content body, not the title.

MyBB used to be a go-to website for many people I studied and work with. I gather most of them stopped visiting it since it degenerated to it's current status.

Yup... I still have occasional contact with some of the founding fathers as it were, all of 'em overseas.
They tell me I am a fool to even use this forum, it's all gone downhill they tell me. Unfortunately there's fun to be had here so here I am. Friends to be made too.
