Have you ever ordered a product online and received a fake knock-off?

Was it immediately evident that it was fake, or did you only notice after a while?

I am curious to know what you guys order and whether you really saved any money and whether you think they were useful after receiving delivery. I will start.

Order #1. Total was R289 including taxes and at the time of purchase, this particular strength band (100-100lbs) was available for R399 from Gorilla sports. Not all blue bands have same strength so I might have saved just about R90-100 as I don't know how tax was split.

Resistance band is awesome for certain movements mimicking deadlift and shoulder press. Of course, DL weight cannot be same but I am not a weight lifter so very...
 
Yes, and every single time it was with Takealot. I still haven't used Temu.

I have never had an issue using Chinese malls like AliExpress.

Takealot has always accepted the return, and crediting my account was not an issue.
 
Xbox one controller battery, Takealot didn't want to take it back cause it didn't have the supposed charging cable it came with.
I was like how the hell would you even know, the box was so battered that it probably fell out somewhere on the way. But nope they wouldn't take it back at all.

I will hazard a guess and say Takealot simply stated "we only store these items, please contact the seller ?"
 
One rule that I know when using Amazon is to always buy from listings that are fulfilled by Amazon. This is, in any case, more relevant for importing. Also, don't always believe what you read on Reddit, lol.
 
Yep fake Dubai Fragrance - Takealot third party seller. Their listings are plagued with these people buying Chinese knock offs. Reported tons and tons and nothing gets done.
 
The most shocking one for me was Service Parts Logistics (SPL).

They're supposed to be authorized distributors for most laptop brand parts, but they sell knock-off parts as genuine.

I've experienced this with both an HP battery as well as a Lenovo Ideapad Slim 3I keyboard and palm-rest.
 
for me the worst was a oneplu X phone that was actually a really convincing knock off
IMEI didn't match a oneplus and was actually some fong kong phone, thankfully takealot was on the money with it and I got refunded

but when there is money to be made from selling knock off's its easy to cheat
 
Yes a few from TakeAlot. Once returned it showing that its fake. They apologized and send me another fake.
Never used them again.
Now only from Amazon, no fakes..........yet.
