I would not expect it to happen now just before elections, but if the elections go badly for the ANC (which indications are that they will), I fully expect them to try put the city under administration to try and wrestle control from the newly elected municipal "leaders" whoever they are.

At no point will administration be used as a vehicle to actually really fix things though.

It has? I honestly don't know of one example where there has been any kind of sustainable improvement...more like things went the other way (if that is even possible to imagine).

That's the thing. It's consistently not sustainable. Not because the administration process doesn't work. It usually works OK. They stabilise service delivery, pay off immediate debts etc.. They tend to hand back a muni that is, at least at a basic level, more functional than it was before.

Problem is the moment power is handed back to the same useless idiots in the muni council they just F it all up again.

I'm not sure how you fix that honestly. The residents are voting for these idiots and the administration process doesn't train them on how to effectively run a muni.

I approve this message on the basic principle that if the DA do not get their act together and stop acting like an EU left wing twit, then you can always vote them back out next elections. The days of blind loyalty to any party are long gone, vote for the party that offers you the best future and get rid of them if they do not deliver
