MASSEGAT... I am on the back end of a battle of the bug.so, just came out of a 2nd round for the year.
this was thanks to a pork chop (checkers).
previous was a pie from checkers (pieman)
although both came out of checkers - checkers is not responsible for what may go on in pieman's facilities - that same pie could have come from a number of other outlets.
we have all had food poisoning - many times, but this pork chop was the crowning glory for me.
it went above and beyond any previous experience, to the extent my gp suggested hospital admission with iv antiboitic & hydration.
i managed to dodge that bullet tho.
but what does one do to manage food poisoning ?
1st off, one needs to get rid of the toxic substance - either from above or below.
some ppl reach for products like immodium - which slows down the "spuitpoep" etc - but at the same time will slow down the body getting rid of the toxic substance that started it all.
buscopan is excellent for dealing with the abdominal pain that goes with food poisoning.
in severe cases one can resort to an antibiotic - but in severe cases whatever we may drink often comes up again within 15mins - so there goes the antibiotics
in all, one is like a hamster trapped in a wheel.
i'm curious as to how others deal with this - there seems no fast way out of it, but grinning and bearing things for 24hrs or so
Friday night we had steak with mushrooms (no... they weren't sourced from the back garden, but may as well have been). My wife was complaining throughout Saturday about a sore stomach and such. By Saturday evening my stomach was feeling bloated too... I went to bed early because I was feeling _shitty_ , with a fever.
Sunday morning I woke up feeling green.
I spent the day in ... meditation ... upon the porcelain throne. By the evening I was both releasing spirits from the back door and calling out others from the top. Monday morning checkers sixty 60 arrived as if sent from some higher being (thank you wifey), with Lucozade, Energade and rehydrate.
Sunday morning I weighed in at 95.4kg (lowest in a while... yay me)... Morning I woke up with a dry mouth and weighing in at 91.9kg... I now officially have specs like a vehicle... wet and dry weights. lol. But that meant I lost a LOT of fluid through the various communing with the spirits at deaths door.
I've spent the last two days working through the supplies that sixty 60 dropped off and finally don't feel like I'm about to cross over and talk to everyone via John Edwards.
