Geyser timer solution for solar

Let me just give clarification as well.

There is a heat pump connected to this whole shebang. That does not work. It has not worked since I bought the place. So I switched it off and only run the geysers.

It could never get the temps high enough at the start, and now it just gives an error whenever I try to start it up.
I have RTFM and cannot get it to work. POS.
 
After I ran troubleshooting with Thermowise a couple of years ago, they gave me this schematic for the correct installation.
But as I said, there's basically no space to get the work done.
And if my installation is like below, I don't know.

Yup, they're in parallel according to that drawing. So water runs through both geysers at the same time. So yes, the easiest solution is to block flow in or out of one of them and turn off that element. Unfortunately means crawling around to find a tap or if there isn't one, adding it. But if you're getting a plumber to install a tap then it might be worth getting them changed to run in series rather. Or getting your heat pump replaced.

also probably why the heat pump is failing it cant mange that volume of water if they parallel

The geysers are just storage. I don’t see how it can’t handle the volume. It will just work a bit harder in my opinion but that’s it.

not working might be subjective - say its a 150l rated heat pump now it is trying to heat up double the volume of water its rated for - will it warm water yes but how warm is another story -

Heat pump doesn't work on volume, it works on temp you've set it to, it circulates the water through until it's the set temp. It will just take longer the more water it tries to work through, this is why you'd go for bigger heat pump to warm it quicker.

Could you not have checked why the heat pump wasn't working?

Well, in the first place. When I moved in, the water was like ice cold. Like in cooled down as if in a fridge.
Then they came and changed something.

And it just didn't work. I guess it's plumbed incorrectly.

Are they sure they didn't have it set to cooling? Cause a heat pump can do that

What on earth do they need that for? Is it too much to ask for geyser heat pumps to heat only like some aircons cool only. Then if the heat pump guys came and set it to ice cold then they should go out of business.

Remember it's basically an aircon, so you can switch it from heat to cool and in some climates you might want it to cool, I mean Denmendez is in one.
