He is right though, SA gets very little value for money considering the amount of money that is spent on education.

Rather than trying to build a campus in every single corner of the country, the money would be far better spent on getting UNISA to not be an absolute nightmare to deal with.
Then you get rid of the chip on the shoulder about starlink, and use them to get libraries with super fast internet connections in every town in the country.

With a fraction of the budget that is spent on these institutions, you probably could ensure everyone has the opportunity for some higher education via distance universities.

Roodt explained that the global demand for graduates is falling and that the education system should adapt to this reality.

I'd argue that the change should rather happen on the other end.

If various industries stop taking in graduates what happens over time? nobody to do the work.

Well, he isn't totally wrong, and yes what employers want isn't a piece of paper anymore, it's a person with a piece of paper that is intelligent and shows promise. We do seriously need to look at how many people who enter university actually graduate at the other end as well.
