R2.835 billion spent on a hospital project which is not complete despite starting in 2020

That photo tells a story all on its own, that most definitely doesn't look like new development, it looks like a very old building that is waiting to be torn down i.e. the normal incompetence and looting we associate with anything the ANC do.

They don't even get to the hilarious parts. This was in Feb 2026 btw:

Phase 3C started in March 2020 with a contractual completion date of July 2025. The

awarded amount was R 547 756 394.81. This was for the construction of the Residential

buildings, Library, Gymnasium, Swimming pool, sporting facilities and other

outbuildings, internal roads, external roads & related services (stormwater, sewer

services, water services, etc.).

Firepools galore.

Also, this isn't the first state led construction project the contractor has botched:
Clear Choice Builders (CCB), the main contractor, which has pocketed more than R100-million from the project, was sent packing due to poor performance and delays.
MEC Sasekani Manzini acknowledged the delays while addressing the provincial legislature in Mbombela this week.

“We can report that eThandukukhanya CHC was planned for completion on the 30th of September 2024. However, the national department has terminated the service of the contractor due to poor performance and failure to bring the project to completion,” Manzini said.

CCB managing director Sipho Manonga did not respond to inquiries on the matter.
Sunday World has learnt that this is not CCB’s first troubled project.

In Soweto, the Nancefield Primary School renovation project remains incomplete after five years, forcing pupils into mobile classrooms while costs surged beyond the R120-million budget.

The company was dismissed from the project in 2022 for what Gauteng Department of Infrastructure Development spokesperson Bongiwe Gambu labelled at the time as “non-
performance”.

CCB also faced delays and payment disputes in a R168-million project to rebuild Rivoni School for the Blind in Limpopo.

And I fully expect people to be out in force voting to keep the ANC running thing come November as well. The lack of basic comprehension never ceases to amaze me.

Why don't they handover the project management to Solidarity, it would have been done twice over by now
Because Solidarity would tell them that getting 3 different contractors to work on the same project is retarded, despite it being "best practices" in government procurement to give more opportunities to smaller companies via breaking up projects.

Also, Solidarity would tell them that it is more important for the hospital to be completed on time and on budget than creating "work opportunities".

This is kids play... Try the Durban GO Bus project.... it was planned from about 2009, supposed to be live in 2015 I think?? Still not. They promise now December. We have been paying security to protect empty unused bus terminals for years. 24 /7 / 365.
