SA Politics Part 14 - The New Dawn turns to Dusk

Yeah, that's not the case, a Mayor is elected in council, so there is no electoral process that requires the naming of mayoral candidates, everyone is a councilllor candidate until they are elected as Mayor, even the Great Zille.
Naming a mayoral candidate is a campaign strategy, not an electoral requirement.

It’s like going into a national election without anyone knowing who your presidential candidate is: technically allowed, but strategically daft.

The ANC never did it because they were assured of victory. The DA forced them to try and name one, a true masterclass of divide and conquer

How many municipalities has the DA won with their named in advance mayoral candidates?

That is the spirit, do your thing in the DA and allow the party that has plenty of experience in winning elections to do its thing.
The ANC doing its thing has so far meant not submitting candidates in time and dropping to 18% in the polls. Trust me, we are more than happy to let them continue doing it

Is it not going to be scandalous when the DA still fails even with the ANC not represented?

I think almost every billboard in JHB is technically illegal - the city just never enforces anything. Unless of course the city officials are cadres and have a political agenda. Let’s see how many ANC billboards get removed
Okay, everyone is doing illegal things so we, a political party and a leader of society might as well join in? Superior logic.

Fair enough but I haven't seen that many ANC billboards really. They don't need to really. Remember blacks get one T-shirt as a motivation so T-shirt is the billboard.

Might take a while for it to click with the slower parts of our population, that only ANC posters aren't being taken down...

Is that the same as "yes, our billboard is illegal, we are not disputing that, just pointing out the double standards being applied "?

Because if that's the case I expect the Oppenheimer and Capitec money to be put to good use and a court case to expose this double standards.
