Mashatile is anything but useless or stupid. He's built up an elaborate network of corruption over the years that continues to run like a well oiled machine whether he's sick or not.

What infuriates me the most is his attitude when confronted by the media about his large-scale corruption.

Per Parliament’s register of members’ interests, he declared three properties worth approx. R65 million.



Waterfall property, R37m.



The Constantia house is worth R28m, yet Mashatile earns R3.2m per annum. How does he service the mortgage? Rates and taxes would be around R40k a month, excluding maintenance and upkeep. A mortgage would cost at least a quarter of a million rand a month.

For two years, he denied owning it. When confronted by a journalist, he said this:

People must read. First thing you must learn in life. There is nothing in Parliament that I said I own a house. I said I live there. That house is owned by my son-in-law. It’s a very simple thing to read. So what is the problem?

Gotta love the arrogant attitude. "People must read". No, Paul, politicians must stop abusing their power and positions - THAT is what must happen.

His network extends widely, a few years back a scandal broke out that pointed to exactly where everyone should be looking, nothing came of it and it all died down. To this day it all continues.....the snakes did learn how to better hide their dealings though.
