South Africa wasn’t tough enough on Shein and Temu

Still the only places that sell my shoe size with a choice of more than 1 or two styles and do not mark it up insanely.

Just bought another pair of tekkies for R266 off Temu (I now only go onto temu every 6 months or so then buy a pair of shoes with the discount they give me for coming back so even the minimum spend is irrelevant)

Closest I could find for similar shoe type, size and quality in SA is converse for R450 before shipping.

Before Temu I owned 2 pairs of shoes and a pair of plakkies because either not available or R2000+ for a pair that lasts me 6 months.

Before Temu my shoe buying mantra was "If it fits buy it"

Now I have a different pair for every day of the week and then some.

Same with underwear for most of us
 
The stuff I get from Temu, I can't even find in SA let alone being it manufactured here.

Takealot, Amazon and whatever online or brick and mortar company gets 90%+ of their stuff from China in the first place.

Irshaad Kathrada is just one of those persons marketing himself as the know it all of a certain subject like some of our energy experts or economist.

Our shops would be pretty empty without Chinese imports. At least with Temu I cut out the middle man or two.

Today, he was appointed CEO of LSF after they pushed out a black woman from the role.They pushed out black female CEO Tumi Moatshe to make space for Irshaasd as CEO so they can loot LSF millions meant to support local Black industrialists.Talk about throwing a javelin to yourself. Clear case of conflict of interest if not outright corruption. He created the fund when he was in government, and now he serves as the CEO to the same fund.

is promoting corruption On experience, how many industrial companies has he built and run? Look at his CV on LinkedIn. There is nothing there about any real experience in industry or industrialisation! So, how does he become CEO after 6 months on the job?

Most people understand the need for a local economy, most also understand that the local economy is far too expensive for them to actively support. You can't pay people third world salaries and charge them first world prices at the same time.
