All DStv’s new packages and prices revealed

Well that explains the black, though not the size..

As for white SS logos, based on debates seen for about 20 years about it many will like them enough. Not that they're likely to get changed again anyway.
I see what you mean. The SuperSport logos are now so small you can't even read it says grandstand there.

344 Church TV and 415 France 24 (news in English) have just been added.

DStv used to have France 24 years back.

Weird because it's a free2air channel, I think. Open View Has it.

The black mnet logo looks so stupid. Again, can't see it most of the time. It's been blue for +-40 years.

What sport, more of it than you had?
It should certainly have what's on the Sports package now added, so things like all cricket, that's only fair.

Most likely is it will become like the terrestrial version of M-Net - still working for those who've kept subscribed, for decades now. But no new subs possible, nor up or downgrades I would think.
Woke up to MNet and SS Grandstand. Not sure which other premium channels but I assume all those on Movies and Sport. Don't know for how long or if this is simply to get people locked into premium once it ends.

Movies & Series does have WWE included as well as a few of the lesser sport channels. I'm not surprised but I can't compare to Compact+ now as the package numbers no longer work so will have to wait and see if it's those channels showing the Springbok matches.

Premium called "130+" or even "135+" elsewhere is strangely low this month though, it's around 148 (/ 152 on satellite) now with just 4 chs. being removed tonight.

Maybe someone using old info. Or more drama coming
🤷‍♂️
That's from their website. Strangely it still says correct as of 7 July 2025 so most likely it's outdated.

Just checked. The new logos suck imo. The movie logos are way too big and black logos simply look very strange. Don't think I've ever seen black logos on tv before tbh. Half of the time movies have dark backgrounds so you can't even see the logos. It just becomes an annoyance. Not to mention that some movies have those black bars at the top and bottom of the screen making black logos totally invisible and useless lmao. Black logos do not work, don't know which genius thought of that idea.

And I think the white Supersport logos look bad as well. Keep it red.
I don't think anybody would care whether they show all the time or not. That's not the purpose of logos. What does look strange is the black Kyknet logos as it's been a hallmark from the start as a blue channel. Interesting the KyknetNou logo is still white with transparent writing.

Looking at the Premium vs Sports package, they did cut out a lot of premium sport for just R199 less per month.

The base price difference looks to be R500?

Actually I am wrong. Premium vs Sports is R699/R799 vs R399 so at best the difference is R300.

Sport excludes these Grandstand, Rugby, Golf, Tennis, Motorsport, Extra2, Maximo1

That is quite a lot of premium sport. At R300 less it also feels like WAY more less in terms of the sport that gets cut. In fact feels you lose more than R300. Maybe as a Football only fan it's worth it but for anyone else not really.

The Movies & Series is going to be a hard to sell package.

One can only watch Jason Bourne or Coach Carter so many time before questioning your R500 a month spend.
There are people out there that love their movies and series. Single women/people that don't watch sport but love entertainment is the core audience for that. However that is competing directly with Netflix, which is a far better way to watch your favourite series and movies.

I'm on the Sports (Compact) package. There are 17 sports channels, most for soccer. I'm not complaining :)

(I happily watched Brighton boot Manchester United in the Carabao Cup last night, for instance)

There are still far more General Entertainment channels than Sport, though.

That is exactly the issue. Netflix + Prime + Disney is R417 per month and then you can add maybe the DSTV Starter packages for R99 to get a few local channels and BBC content on BBC UK TV.

I'm not sure if Discovery Channel, HGTV, Mnet Movies etc is worth the R500 p/m unless you are heavy into the entertainment of like Kyk Net, Mnet( Carte Blanche) National Geographic etc.

Mnet has been a "blue channel" from the start as well though. Much longer than kyknet.

I see you're comparing streaming and contract. Month to month is R479 which looks better. I'm not sure what the contract prices would be for the new packages.

Why is everyone so obsessed with size? I would think the smaller the better.
We'll get used to it eventually I guess. Can always just press "i" on the remote to check what channel we're on if we can't read it on the logo.

And just noticed in that screenshot heisenborg posted... the "live" is also now very tiny and that annoys me because it's nice to know that I'm actually watching live sport. That's one thing I always check on the logo first. They could have made "live" a bit bigger and clearer. Just my opinion.

There's no "i" button with streaming.
