But the Dems do have sizable leads amongst independents on issues that matter, which is what would worry Republicans:

Jennings: The Russia-Ukraine war has cut down on refining capacity. I would argue that decades of Democrats trying to squash refining capacity has also not allowed us to do that.

Phillip: You were arguing up until this moment that Trump had restored energy dominance, and we didn't even need the oil coming out of the strait of hormuz. For you to now say it's because other presidents reduced our refining capacity that we're in this position, that doesn’t make sense.

Jennings: Are you arguing that the ukraine-russia war has had no impact on refining?

Phillip: Prices are high around the globe, are largely because of the war in Iran, and to some extent because of the ongoing conflict in Ukraine that Donald Trump promised he would solve on day one. And we are 18 months into his presidency, and we're not even close
