SARS plan to get more South Africans to pay their taxes

SARS Commissioner Johnstone Makhubu said the taxman will use various technologies to broaden South Africa's tax base.

I have an idea, and just hold up, I know it will be funny but it might actually work.

Get the ANC and its offshoots to stop stealing everything blind, and actually do the jobs they're paid for in a cost effective manner.

The economy might grow and more people will get jobs, and thus more tax.

They auto registered my kids without my approval (10 and 12), then did a request for an IRP5 for them, but since they didnt have my contact details, they didnt send it out. Then they slapped fines for not handing them in. In turn they forced the bank to suspend my kids' tax free savings accounts. I got a demand to pay R3000 fine for each child. Thats how they go after the non-tax payers. The irony is my kids made R1000 each off their TFSA for the year.

SARS is getting desperate.

Anyway government is actually R7.5 trillion in debt, if you add municipal and SOE etc. Each year they take on another R523 billion of debt.

Austerity has started kicking in, but if they default they can take part of your pension to cover their debt.

Yeah, only in SA will they go after kids... typical...

Fix the government first. It's well known that with functioning governments people are more tax compliant while tax authorities are less determined to go after them.
