Chinese cars, are they as bad as everyone thinks?

Here's a 2017 Audi - https://www.cars.co.za/for-sale/use...uto--25-TFSI-Western-Cape-Cape-Town/11244503/

Here's a 2017 Haval - https://www.cars.co.za/for-sale/used/2017-Haval-H2-1.5T-City-Mpumalanga-Trichardt/10904172/

With more mileage too...and that Audi cost far more than that Haval did in 2017.
you do whatever you want to with your money,

I'm just saying look at what the market prices Chinese cars at, even old ones,
educate yourself into what you are getting yourself into, look at the price differences,. they are Vast!

and Audi isnt exactly the benchmark Id go for, look how many Audis litter webuycars, BMW's Rangers, basically if you see tons of them sitting at webuycars it should tell you something, even i you know nothing about cars.

ask yourself why do people hold on to ancient Toyotas and Hondas and Suzukis?

good reason why you still see them driving around and why a 15 year old Geely looks like this:

I mean dude in China itself, people there drive Toyota's even if they hate the Japanese, they will still pay more for their cars than ones made in China itself.

That was true somewhat for domestic China 5 years ago sure, now it’s all BYD, GWM, Geely, Chery etc with Toyota and VW being the only contenders.

Suzuki and the others don’t exist, with Honda really only showing up as their Chinese joint ventures like Dongfeng and GAC.

Tesla being the rare exception.

The car world has shifted entirely, some people just need to wake up to that reality still living 10 years in the past.

There’s a reason I’m ONLY looking at Chinese cars now because I’ve lived one for a few years and have many friends driving very happily.

My friends and family crying about car issues are all in European cars.

Cross post from the Official Haval/GWM Thread.

I'm very much "old school" & still enjoy a manual.

I drove this Haval Jolion stick shift/manual tranny (Model Year 2023 Luxury) & to my surprise it was a great deal better than I anticipated.

Solid shift action with a good throw. Even the clutch feel was reassuring.

The 1.5T performs well (for this type of vehicle) revving out with the manual.

Which stealership was this? Compared to other Chinesium, this one at least has some kind of support network in SA.
