how to avoid a jhb water meter swap out nightmare ?

jhb water changed my water meter today

how do i avoid a billing nightmare whereby they do either or both of these :

1 charge me a fortune because they think my old meter clocked over

2 get doubled billed for 2 meters , one for actual readings and one for estimates

You don't, but they've changed my meter twice. Thanks to leaks but didn't have the issues you mentioned.

Absolutely no experience in this but my gut instincts go:

Get a clientele legal policy.

Document absolutely everything:
- The date time and tech names (and contracting company if applicable)
- Clear photo of the old meter (the meter and numbers) in the hands of the tech (not as clear needed) as they remove it.
- Clear photo of the new meter.

Submit via online portal the meter reading (not sure JHB has this), on the day of removal -- in case the techs don't do this
Check which meter reading comes in on the next billing.
Fight, email and legal.
