When I replaced my car last year, the salesman told me to not trade it in with them, rather try and sell it privately or approach We Buy Cars because I would get more for it.

I did and I ended up getting R12,000 more than the likely best trade in offer. I was even surprised at the amount I got.

Yup had this exact conversation with salesperson this weekend who told me I’m almost certainly going to get more from WBC than them due to them operating on volume and much smaller margins.

But you're comparing those prices to the dealer trade price for the Ora. It's comparing apples to pears. By your own article you received a significantly higher offer from WBC, implying the expected sale value (which is what you're using for the other vehicles) is about double the number you've chosen.

Yes, WBC offered him R350k, which in itself is R150k over dealership offer.

WBC average mark-up is 15-18% per Google. So lets average it at 16.5%, to get to a WBC selling price of R407 750.

We often choose not to see things

Paying an ev premium only makes sense if you know
You will save the losses with time +lots of kilos

We all have cellphones and many have pre concieved notions about battery lifetime

How does anyone think they will get a decent trade in on a item with massive battery that would be hefty expensive to replace

Imo you don't sell an EV
Or accept the TAX if you insist on having short ownership window

Running costs savings has to accept some of the trade losses

So yea just ignore all the save x by going EV hidden taxes not mentioned
