This is based on handy, from their discussion board: https://github.com/notune/android_transcribe_app basically a nice android wrapper for it.

I had the opposite problem today. I was given another phone to type a message on, and it had the AZERTY keyboard instead of QWERTY. That did not go well...

Google:

Key Differences from QWERTY
A and Q: These two keys swap places compared to standard English keyboards.
Z and W: These two keys also swap places.
M key: The M moves next to the L key on the middle row.
Accents: Dedicated keys make it easier to type common French accents like é, è, and à.

Handy TTS is very responsive. When I have to do long thoughts I use dictation, but I use OpenWhispr. There are so many products like these today.

Vibe, HandyTTS, and OpenWhispr are what I recommend. Handy is quite light. Vibe is also light'ish and has a built-in, own-hosted API server. I vibe something quite unique that uses vibe, basically a voice-prompt DMS system tailored to IT reporting, documentation, and other technical writing.

For everyday use, I would go with Handy TTS. For something more enterprise, OpenWhispr is the way to go.

It's a little floating button that you press to activate.

There are quite a few transcription options, but very few do Afrikaans well. This one is mostly decent.

I used to swipe, it's much faster than tapping. Now when no one is i around I use Wisprflow, it's still free on phone.

I use tap and swipe, and swap depending whether I’m lying down, sitting, etc.

I’ll occasionally give a “thumbs up”, otherwise we speak.

I used to type paragraphs while driving on those old Nokias with the dot on the 5.
