Good day,
A friend of mine is planning to retire. She wants to set up a discussion with financial advisor on where to invest her retirement fund (approx. R18m).
Are there any recommended and INDEPENDANT financial advisors in GP province, someone not associated with specific fund?
She frankly doesnt know what else to ask besides what fund to select, she wants to put 50% of her retirement savings in life annuity and the other half in living annuity to manage the risk.
Is there anything important to ask apart from "Which fund historically performed the best?".
Any advice on financial advisors "do" and "don'ts"

Sure I'll chat to her. I've got an amazing crypto deal, she will double her funds in a .month. Should I send my banking details to you to pass to her?

Just ask MyBB. Lots of independent advisors here.

With R18m to invest the issues are not fund selection necessarily so much as tax and estate structuring.

The only "don't" is don't sign an advisor % fee anywhere ever, it'll be pure theft even at < 0.5%.

Does she want to buy an RA or living annuity?

Don`t talk to a financial adviser. Use EasyEquities, put some into the EasyEquities Rise funds (property based, available as RA or non-RA as well as living annuity). Put some into the International Portfolio fund (medium aggressive US stocks, Rand based) . Open an Alan Gray account, put some into the Allen Grey moderate fund (also available as RA). Get a TymeBankGo account, put R238000 into the GoalSaves (for tax free interest). If she wants something more aggressive, buy some EasyEquities USD Portfolio (Dollar based). She can also put some into the EasyEquities Conservative or Moderate Bundles. This will give her excellent diversification and spread across investment types. Also.,max out on tax free saving, choose a TFSA on EasyEquities.

NB! STAY AWAY FROM DISCOVERY!

She can speak to me. I`m not a financial adviser, but I am an experienced investor. I will give some advice for free just for fun. We can use AI as the financial adviser.

Maybe suggest Galileo Capital. They have a flexible published advice fee scale which may appeal.

I would go with Sygnia. At R18KK, ZERO fees apply

Your question about best performance, history stats are just numbers, some years great, some years poor (example 2020), and it is out of your hands!
