Quite expensive yes... lots of copper. As for why it's lying there... often the thugs either don't see it, or they know about it and leave it there to evade capture.

North of the boerewors curtain is no different. Every time I decide it's time to fire up the genny and run it for about half an hour as it's not good to let them sit for too long, things happen and I have no need to and it comes to the rescue. It's as if the mere thought of it is a jinx. Last time if was a burnt panel. I keep a jerry can of spare fuel on standby.

Old issue coming back to haunt us here again earlier - power spikes!!

My PC's monitor flashed off/on a few times, then saw our net connection was down. Smells throughout the house, one DB isolation switch had tripped. Problem was clearly on both phases, which have separate entry points into the property, so our recently replaced mini substation the likely cause.
Power never actually went off.

Lost 3 x PSU's, all else seems to be ok.

I would guess well over 300V.

Just add 2 single pole or one double pole SPD in the DB. Bare minimum one on the live cable. With these you need one all over the house.
