Whats the problem that this actually solves for? How big of problem is this? How well does it solve the issue?

We are allowed to question these things as well as Musk's agenda behind them and how he is using the tools at his disposal to apply pressure on societies and institutions that he doesn't value

Do you question every other ISP, cell phone network, Satellite network provider what their agenda is? Or is it only applied when it's specifically Elon Musk?

Even if Musk's intentions are good, I foresee the 'orbital weapons' being used against humanity one day.

The list is endless, when we're not focused on Musk. When we buy an LG TV do we focus on the CEO? When we use AWS do we focus on the CEO? When we buy a Toyota do we focus on the CEO? No - but we focus on the Starlink CEO instead of the technology because that propaganda is serving agendas for people.

Just thinking in literally 10 seconds;
- Additional vehicle tracking backhaul over Starlink instead of just MTN/Vodacom
- Farms, Rural areas getting high-speed internet AND mobile at normal rates.
- Banks deploying mobile branches at far far less cost than VSAT
- Local airlines providing high-speed in-flight broadband
- Weather monitoring systems on land and at sea connecting over high speed reliable and affordable data...

And i don't think i've even touched 5% of the iceberg...

But no, lets all focus on Elon Musk and our hate for him and thus ignore the technological progress lol. That will create progress... :)

All of these can be done today without Musk and most of these dont relate to mobile/starlink use case

The reason there is no Starlink in SA because of Musk's political ideology. Musk isnt a just the CEO either he is the controlling shareholder of a group of companies intimately tied to the US government where he also holds significant power as an unelected official.

When people become more wealthy they weald more power, the more wealth and power an individual has the more the consequences of their actions accumulate in society.

Musk isn't doing this just to make money, its also a useful tool he can use to interfere in countries, something he has done already in Ukrane and Russia by denying or granting access on his terms

No questions, but he still needs stable money generating businesses to be able to wield that power... and Starlink is one such avenue because Tesla and X are not really those vehicles... they give him "paper" wealth but not real actual cash per se.

Also, lets assume he has an agenda in SA, why should that preclude me from being able to use the technology, because you can be sure as shyte smells that every single company offering a similar service has an agenda at that level of their ownership structure.

This is a good point - there are a handful of these rather dubious characters who think everyone else should play by their rules.
Many of them are well known for certain island "lifestyle" adventures (sometimes even being denied an invite because they are too cringe) . We shouldn't accept anything they say at face value

SpaceX financials are a circus and he needs cashflow - thats a given

I'd say there are more than a handful, I'd honestly say the vast majority of the worlds financial elite are dodgy AF, and focusing on the antics of one (or a few) is basically missing the real picture.

Thats not true. I am an ex client of starlink (not by choice). We have access to insanely unreliable wifi internet. R1500/month for 15/5mbit thats contended to hell and back. No cellphone signal.

Would like to see your solution to getting rural people online at a cheaper rate than LEO sats. I'm paying almost double what you would pay for 400mbit Starlink and im getting 25x less speed with horrid pings and reliability.

Even herotel doesn't offer better than 15mbit Wifi packages. And they are one of the biggest rural players.
 
Wonder if Musk has agreed to the Regulation of interception of communications act, and if he will install permanent interception equipment for the government, I am sure the overlords will give him his license, if he does. It is after all the only way to get a license in this country, and all other providers have already bent the knee.
