Manchester City 'found guilty of majority of 115 charges'

Holy fudge-doodle.

Guilty of 114 out of 115 charges.

While I am actually pouring myself a lekker drink now...reading on it is an independent panel that found them Guilty.

And guess who needs to decide the punishment?
 
Still no sanction and pretty sure City will appeal so its another year or two. Really wonder what the punishment will be saw some opinion they need to be droppped a league or two, imagine city in League 2 Halaand will score 100 goals a season!

if they are dropped down to league 2 then Haaland and most of their stars will leave to the next Champions League side to offer money for them - none of those players are going to play for two years hoping to get promotion and then a third year hoping to get back into the top four so they can play Champions League - they came to City for the money as well as the instant success that loads of money can buy - and they cant have either in a League 2 club

I was wondering what will happen to people like Haaland? Didn't he sign a 9 year contract? Will he be able to just leave?
 
Lets first see what happens with the appeal before any celebration. They won the appeal against Uefa at CAS last time

Only because of UEFA statute of limitations meaning much of evidence couldn't be used. They were still substantively guilty but got off due to a technicality

he does not have a relegation clause BUT if Barcelona or Real Madrid come calling then its just like any big club transfer - City will posture angrily for some time and insist he is not for sale however given the uncertainty the player and his camp will agitate for a move and he will eventually move for a huge sum of money - thats just how transfers work - and if the worst things do happen to City then lots of players they have are going to ignore the contracts and jump ship

player power nowadays means that players can agitate very easily for a move ie hand in transfer requests and/or agree wages with the club they want to move to or even sign pre-contracts with the club they wish to move to and make all the transfer tactics and negotiations public while the club wanting the transfer makes big noise about how they admire the player - so make no mistake even without any clauses in the contract cancelling the contract upon relegation there are many ways to void the contract and if the owners of City are declared to be "non fit and proper persons" capable of owning a football club and if the team is relegated and or titles stripped and huge points deductions applied (any or all of these consequences can potentially happen applied collectively ..... though all is just a nightmare scenario)

BUT

make no mistake most City players or more importantly the best of them will leave if City are relegated because clubs like Barca and Real Madrid and PSG and Bayern will treat this as a buffet of available world class players and will take them at Market rates or lower

Good luck to Man City holding on to their big PL players in League Two. Haaland is already searching for the door if they get relegated.

I don't think they can roll appeals on forever. The reputation of the entire league is at stake.

My guess is say goodbye to Manchester City at the end of this season. You probably won't see them back in the Premier League for a while. Some say they may be relegated as low as the National League.

Halaand doesn't have any release clause with regards to relegation in his contract so someone will need to buy him for a crazy amount (probably 150+), not sure about the other players.
