Hey MyBroadband!

So a mate and I got tired of jumping between a million different ISP tabs trying to figure out the best fibre options, so we built FibreCentral — a free side project designed to make sorting out your home internet a bit less painful.

It maps 35+ fibre line providers across SA and lets you compare deals from the major ISPs.

What’s on the site:

Fibre Coverage
Enter your address to see exactly which fibre networks are available at your location.

Fibre Compare
Pick two deals and put them head-to-head. It compares them across actual use cases (gaming, 4K streaming, work-from-home, cost per Mbps, etc.) to show you which option actually makes sense.

Tools
A quick OpenSpeedTest, a download time calculator, and an interactive data usage estimator with adjustable household sliders.

Troubleshooting & Help
Simple guides for common issues, including an ONT light checker, router setup tips, and a gaming lag guide.

It’s still very much a work in progress — we’ve got live sync setup for 6 main ISPs so far and are adding more as we go — but it’s completely free to use. Would love yall to give it a spin, test out the tools, and let us know if you spot any bugs or have feedback on how we can improve it!

Thanks for checking it out — feedback welcome! :)

heya, I think someone else did something similar already

Address search doesn’t work on my iPhone with Safari.

Results for my address is poor (on PC), doesn't include my ISP, Afrihost (listed as supported), and Yutiliti (not listed even under coming soon) which many residents use by default.

So @Ak_Akhil instead of vibe coding, show us how you would code a real piece of code, stuff that real men would write, without Claude-

Come now, here's your challenge.

Show us how you can produce meaningful results from a dataset representing regularly sampled vibration data from a bearing housing in a 3 phase induction motor, without using AI broskie

Interested to know which Fibre infrastructure is in your area for Afrihost (eg Openserve, Vumatel etc).

Afrihost recently updated their backend API, our work around with the new endpoint is to fetch data at different address datapoints to get prices for each infrastructure type to store in our DB.

Lightstruck. Sounds like a losing battle.
