DStv’s package and channel overhaul was just the beginning

Streaming-only customers get a kick in the teeth once again. Terrible streaming app with just as terrible pricing. The app is literally just as bad as it was ten years ago.

For me good deal could be Sports package to have Sports Mobile plan which is basically channel 199 200 202 203 204 205 206 207 208 209 210 212 216 218 219 236 240. For R199 that could be amazing note this is just Sports no other channels

I'm not particularly interested in sport but the only reason I'm still with them is because of Showmax shutting down and a lot of that content moving over to DSTV catch up. No doubt that is the main reason they shut Showmax down so they could push a lot of people over to the DSTV streaming app.

Not a fan of 201? Also, what sport is 199 and 200?

Not a fan of 201?
Maybe he left it out because it's the biggest top tier premium supersport channel showing all the most important live sports. Can't take everything away from Premium...

But anyway, the guy can dream on. Dstv will never do a sports package like that.

Never seen delayed sports on 199, can't recall any football either other than all the many Premiere league final matches which for the first time ever was completely covered by SS, why they used every spare channel for it. Google AI is particularly bad with DStv info.

199 Events is basically a special events / overflow sports channel only, now 1 of 3 official ones. The other two newly defines ones are supposedly 210 Extra and definitely 217 Extra 2.

AI just told me that it used a generic description given about the channel and took it literally. Here's what else it had to say;

Didn't even know there was a channel 199 until today.

199 used to show non-sports related crap. It also used to be a Big Brother channel. Only been a sports channel for a year or two now. I think I've watched some live Paris Olympics on 199.

@Joseph matane , that list of sports channels are all included in the new sports package except for 219 (see next post re 219). But that package costs R399.

Here's an example of how confused this AI gets, a complete joke... :oops: lol

And still the Premium subscribers don’t get anything.
Yes, i have been with Dstv since 1996 when it cost R5000 for Pace decoder, dish and installation and a handful of channels. Subscription was R249.00 at the time. Upgraded decoders over the years to the Explora I have today and paying for Premium every month. To charge R1104.00 per month just to be able to use your PVR functions and extraview, is absurd. I find the new R799.00 x 24 price lock contract including access fees a good deal - a saving of R305.00 per month of you are willing to commit to a 24 month contract. In my opinion giving Movies and Series customers access to Premium on a month to month basis at the same price, and give nothing to loyal Premium subscribers - is a slap in the face to say the least. We are the customers that should be rewarded for our loyalty.
