Afrihost AirMobile eSIM sign-up tested

Thanks for the response Marbro! I have everything working up to that point - e-sim added, registered, ported, apn etc. The e-sim is working on my phone. My trouble is that when I select the connection on my watch I have the following:

1. Áre your watch and phone plans from the same service provider
2. I assume yes, as I want to use the same plan and number.
3. I select yes, which opens WEAR on my phone and opens Set a Mobile Plan.
4. I select Use Code.
5. I scan the QR Code on Afrohost's client zone.
6. The result reads: Couldn't set up your mobile plan. Your code isn't valid or it's already been used.

And then I'm stuck.
Any help would be greatly appreciated and apologies if the error ends up being idiotic :)
you have to have a new plan for your watch. I have two esims, one in my phone and one on my watch....

Thanks that makes sense. Is it possible to have the same number for both?

Has anyone been able to connect their Apple Watch to Airmobile yet?
Is there a Jan 2025 update?
I tried to connect mine, and got as far as entering the code/OTP on the MTN screen and encountered an error. Screenshot attached. Is this where it the process dies for others?

Any update on the Apple Watch? I don't see a point in getting a second sim just to get mobile data/connectivity on my Apple Watch.

I might as well just sign up with MTN directly (contract) and get it over and done with. As far as I know, MTN does not allow e-sims on apple watches whilst on prepaid or month to month deals @Afrigirl @AfriGuy

Hi.
No updates, yet.
We will test again and advise if Airmobile e-sims work.

This works beautifully

Added an esim to my son's galaxy watch. So we can call each other. The little sht overplayed his hand when he had a phone.

Now added a second esim to my own handset which is on mtn contract.

R100 for 5gb? Wut. Cheap as chips

Fk you mtn. Cant even do that on their app, nevermind what the cost would be

Airmobile is very cool

My partner tried to sign up, and it was a painful process, send an ID, send a picture of her holding the ID and the worst part is that communication is very poor.
After signing up she couldn't log in , or reset her password.
Only after checking with afrigirl she advised to send her ID book but that also didn't work and now she is required an photo of her holding the ID book + more documentations after (that will be advised later).
of course this is not worth the effort so we gave up....
Just wanted for find out if this is standard procedure?

@Afrigirl @AfriGuy - do you know if the issue with Google Pixel devices from 2024 has been sorted out?

I wish I had found this thread before deciding to port to AirMobile. I've spent all day speaking to different support people on WhatsApp and calls who all just send me around in circles.

I've now been without a working SIM for almost 24 hours, and I don't see it getting resolved today. The last comms I received were "...your device is not supported. Is there anything else we can help with?". Yes, there is. Get me help to get my SIM working.

I've had the best experience with Afrihost Fibre; I wish I could say the same of AirMobile.

Hi,

I'm sorry for the frustration and inconvenience, especially after being without a working SIM for almost 24 hours. I understand your disappointment.

AirMobile is an MVNO that runs on the MTN network. Google Pixel devices haven't been officially tested and certified for AirMobile, so we can't list them as supported. That said, some of our clients use Pixel devices successfully on AirMobile packages. However, because we haven't tested them ourselves, we can't guarantee compatibility or confirm whether the issue mentioned in the thread has been resolved for the 2024 Pixel models.

As an alternative, we can move your service to a physical SIM card, which may work better on your device. If you'd like to go ahead, just let me know.

I have an AirMobile eSIM and SIM, and they both work with my Pixel 6. I only use my AirMobile SIM for data, and for calls, I changed my Vodacom SIM to the eSIM.

Thanks for your reply. I have raised a support ticket via the Customer Zone, but have had no reply.

At this stage, I just want a physical SIM so I can port away from AirMobile. I cannot request a SIM swap via the app, as it says that I have to install my current swapped eSIM. When I contact support, they ask again and again and again whether I've installed the eSIM.

I've used this phone in 4 different countries with 6 different eSIMs and have never had any issues. MTN and Nedbank Connect worked without an issue.

I've now accepted that I'm probably going to be without a SIM for at least the next week.

24 hours later, a Support Ticket via Client Zone, another call, another WhatsApp conversation, an email with my ID, proof of address and a photo of myself with a handwritten note requesting a SIM swap, and there has been no movement whatsoever. No acknowledgement beyond an automated initial ticket response self-marking the issue as "Priority: HIGH". I'd hate to think what "Priority: LOW" gets you.

To make things more fun, the 0800 Customer Service number is, in fact, not toll-free. So, apart from all my partner's free minutes, I've now also spent about R50 in airtime re-hashing the issue for the 8th time, only to be put on hold.

At this stage, I feel like abandoning the number and starting a new life with a new number  You cannot make this up.

May I please have the ticket ID.

Hello. Yes, 1GB free promotion has been discontinued.
I am still on Afrihost via a MTN SIM card and just got my free GB of data for October today. So I assume as an older Afrihost mobile user using the old Afrihost App I am not affected by the AirMobile changes?

Yes, on the old MTN Airmobile Sim you can still claim your 1GB
