LOL, profiteering is a well-known South African norm, did anyone expect anything else. You want a sense of security and safety (it doesn't really exist) then you are going to pay a premium for it.

Let's not get started on the motor industry... now that's profiteering to the extreme.
 
He doesn’t say what the surcharges are and provides no examples.
Maybe if he explained how much more the residents pay it would be helpful.

I suspect he just doesn’t like selling electricity in bulk at lower prices.
He especially wouldn’t like these surcharges going towards solar systems.
