Eskom wants to build a large nuclear power station next to a small seaside town in South Africa

The good old Russian nuclear deal sticking it's head out again. The kickbacks and corruption is going to be epic. Might be a good idea to open a Lambo dealership in Oyster bay.

I think that answers my question as to why they don't use the Koeberg site! Much easier to hide murky stuff in a new location, without existing staff lurking around...

Will never happen with the current legislation.

You will get some spiritual consultant who says that the entire coastline of South Africa is holy and deeply connected to their ancestors, and that building nuclear power station on it will make their ancestors sad. Since SA law requires endless consultation, there will be endless consultation and the project will fizzle out.

Until that spiritual guru realizes a Lambo and 1st class tickets to Dubai to go buy some shiny tracksuits makes him feel better about the situation. (I hope you are right though, let's see)

Beat me to it, and yes 100% the Russians already paid the bribes, and the ANC have to find a way to make good on the contract. This lot are not going to be happy until we have had our own nuclear disaster.
