Eskom’s R1.20 electricity tariff is a bad deal for Bitcoin miners

R1.20/kWh is around the same price as the normal residential rates in China and Russia. Tsek Eskom.

It would cost ±R825,000 in electricity to mine 1 BTC with an Antminer S21XP which costs about R80K each, but you would need more than 20 of them to mine 1 BTC in a year.

And why would the man on the street who is paying much more care in any way, manner or form. bitcoin miners add nothing to the economy in real terms, and no one cares whether they can survive or not, especially when it is at our cost. Eskom should be dropping the price of power to allow people to use more, not selling it to irrelevant people who do not benefit society in general at bargain basement prices.
