Flydubai flight diverts to Saudi Arabia amid reports of pilot fight

Can anybody confirm that the cabin crew was Kenyan?

I never thought about that, but Google seems to agree:
As the emergency unfolded, Kimotho and Muchina were heard speaking in Kiswahili while attending to the wounded captain and helping maintain order inside the cabin.

In footage from the flight, one of the Kenyan crew members can be heard asking a colleague to check whether the injured pilot was conscious and speak to him.

“Mwangalie kama anaongea,” the crew member is heard saying, before another voice gives instructions on how to position the injured captain.

To recap, 7 pilots one each from Russia, SA, India, NZ and Ukraine and 2 from Britain plus 2 Kenyan crew & one Israeli plumber thwarted attack from Omani pilot and saved lives.

How strong was this Omani pilot ? WTAF ?

Weren’t they Jamaican?

That was an AI glitch. The cabin crew were never Jamaican.
International and regional news networks—including Radio Jamaica News—reported widely on the dramatic cockpit attack and arrest. This coverage, combined with social media discussions, may have led to searches mixing up the news source with the nationalities of the actual flight crew.

Edit: The Israeli passengers were suspicious, because they were unfamiliar with a Kenyan accent. Video footage in this thread: https://www.pulse.co.ke/story/flydu...ed-wounded-pilot-revealed-2026100304361026152

Yep. This is a good news story in more ways that one. Nobody died and the villain was not Boeing, rather one of the heroes.

I think a lot of people felt betrayed, having grown up and liking the trusted Boeing brand. Then management abused it with decisions that even I as a non-aeronautical engineer could have told you is an extremely bad idea.

As a kid I my dad took me to Jan Smuts, and we'd have lunch at an open-air restaurant overlooking the runway shortly after the new plane types came in. The 727, 737, 747. Off course, there was already the 707. The Max saga clouded those memories. This incident showed something else, positive, a redemption. It still has good bones :)

Wingnut posted a Mentour clip. Something I'd not considered, had the plane gone down in that dive, what the Max history and sentiment would have done and resulting conspiracy theories.

My favourite as a kid was seeing the Queen of the Skies parked in a row with their blue, white and orange livery and appear to stare in to the viewing deck almost at eye level at what was then Jan Smuts. *goosebumps*

I remember thinking the Jumbo looks like a swan.

same, I used to love OR tambo when it was still a Hub airport and marveled at the fact from right here in Africa you could fly to every inhabited continent non stop, one of very few airports where that was possible.

to be fair though the real hero was the captain who opened the door, outcome would have been Germanwings or egyptair 990 or any of the other pilot suicides there have been taking everybody with them, and again since 9/11 the cockpit has become a fortress for those who want to commit suicide for whatever reason and take hundreds of people with them,
You can still fly to every inhabited continent non stop from JNB.

1. Netanyahu conducted a highly classified diplomatic and intelligence-sharing trip to the UAE exactly two days prior to the incident.
2. Following the meetings, Netanyahu issued an explicit public warning stating that Israel faced an elevated threat window of immediate attacks before the upcoming elections.
3. Flydubai operated multiple routine flights along the Dubai–Tel Aviv corridor throughout Monday afternoon, Tuesday morning, and Tuesday evening without altering crew sizes or implementing extra safety protocols.
4. Fly Dubai’s Wednesday morning flight had 2 additional pilots on board, uniquely singled out to have 2 off duty pilots.
5. The pilot chose to execute his plan on this specific flight despite being heavily outnumbered by professional aviators, indicating he was completely unaware of the last-minute crew additions sitting in the passenger cabin - which actually doesn’t happen as pilots are provided with passenger manifestos.
6. The flight just happened" to have a highly irregular, European nationals secondary crew sitting right there in the passenger cabin.
Hanna Sum
Pilots are not provided with passenger manifestos. All they know is the number of pax and crew on board. The FO would have met the 2 additional pilots at sign on already, assuming they were rostered deadheading. Hanna clearly knows nothing.

That livery on the 200 and SP from the 70s was from before my time but the newer (old) scheme I remember well.
The original SAA 747-200B & 747SP paint scheme was known as the 'Bandit' livery, due to the blue paint 'mask' around the flight deck windows and upper nose... ;)

The plumber, who broke into the cockpit, tackled the armed hijacker, tied him up with headphones, and flew the plane by remembering Air Craft Investigation, said the following in an interview:
“The pilot, who was injured, was very close to the door, so it was difficult for us to open it.”
In a separate interview, translated by his daughter, he said:
“I went to the cockpit door, and it was unlocked. A crew member and I pushed the door very hard and managed to get in.”
Both of these accounts suggest that the door opened inward and that the pilot’s body was blocking the door. However, according to the manuals, the cockpit doors on Boeing 737s open outward. It would be impossible to break down a reinforced door, especially one that opens outward, so the claim is the pilot unlocked the door. How was the body blocking the door if it opens outward? And why did Super Mario say “pushed”?

Every single passenger had their seatbelt on.
No one using the loo ?
The cabin looked very neat and tidy

Has to be the most disiplined passengers on a flight ever to follow all the rules

You're just as pathetic as vrottie. What the fck would be the purpose of faking this? If they could bomb your people with pagers I'm sure they could do a proper false flag.

Yeah a weird obsession. I mean sure Neta is taking advantage of it but no sign this is a false flag op.
