The selection process, in SA, is entirely merit-based.

If it weren't so, then under-privileged sportsmen and sportswomen wouldn't be able to wear their career achievements with pride into their retirement.

They'd have to not talk about the true nature of their achievements in front of their grandchildren.

Don't you think that would amount to perpetuating the race problem in SA, as opposed to alleviating it?

Sport administration would never do that to the country's sports ambassadors.

Why didn't we bat first?

The pitch looked good for batting and as you can see rain was on the cards. Now we chased a big score and lost by 45 DLS

Series already won and wanted to test our chasing abilities. Plus potch is a good chasing ground.
We then had some big issues. De zorzi getting injured leaving us 1 batsman short when we had picked our longest tail of the series with neither jansen playing. Then with only 10 batsman we had an awful start vs the new ball.

I don't care about Brevis inconsistency at this stage of his career. I care about his enormous potential. He needs more experience and time in the middle. If we invest in him now and he gets consistent time in the middle in Tests, ODI's and T20's we will have the best batsmen in the world in 2-3 years. When Kallis was inconsistent the selectors kept picking him because of his potential and it payed off handsomely in the end. Its not like he is not performing now.

Pick him and stick with him.

Talent alone isn't enough. If we are going to have a nr.1 batsman in the world its going to be lhuhandre Pretorius.
