US Politics: Catering to Iran

Let's not pretend that we don't know that most of Trump's executive orders are illegal.

And many of those that are technically legal are only legal because of recent supreme court decisions which grant Trump way more power than any president has had before him.

You also conveniently seem to have forgotten about Covid, which at first massively reduced immigration and subsequently created a massive spike in immigration. That is despite Title 42 (deemed illegal by courts) being in effect until March 2023.

Biden didn't "open the border to illegals" or have an "open border policy" and you know it.

It's just one of those things that republicans say because they heard it repeated so many times they just accept it as fact without even giving it a second thought. Like parrots.

Back in the real world it's Republicans who continuously block any attempt at real immigration reform. And no, "build a wall" is not real reform, it's a comic strip for morons.
He also conveniently ignores what was happening at the time in South America to create the PUSH of migration:
They only ever focus on the pull side of it.

If I was living under those conditions I would also take a chance for pure survival and giving my family a chance at some kind of safe and dignified future.

The US and Europe is fully responsible for the root causes of the mess that is South America. If they truly cared about migration they would advocate for effort being put into fixing those problems in the source countries. But they don't. They care about resource extraction and the uppity resources (aka human beings) knowing their place.

Erm, Obama also used executive orders to secure the border.

Poor covid getting the blame. Illegal migration remains illegal migration, after the covid slump the numbers pretty much stayed the same, it wasn't a spike that let off until he left office.

Biden reversed or discontinued several Trump-era policies, including Remain in Mexico and the Trump zero-tolerance approach, while also restoring broader asylum eligibility in some circumstances. That would encourage poeple to flock to the border.

The asylum system became a major pull factor. A person encountered at the border was not necessarily simply "caught and sent home." Large numbers entered the Title 8 immigration/asylum process, where cases could take years to adjudicate. CRS specifically identifies lengthy asylum adjudication and the inability to rapidly remove many migrants as major problems.

But don't worry, come 2028 things might change again depending on who's in office.

Doesn't change my point about her being a centrist and not part of the leftwing. Your point was they should go for centrist candidates just pointed out 2 centrists who lost . So why are you convinced a centrist would win.

Because during that time they were pandering towards the far left wrt some things, I would not classify her or biden as far left though. Things like decriminalising illegal border crossing, abolishing private health care etc. She flipflopped later on.

The funny thing though

The award was started in 2024. NYC has been No 1 since then. And Zohan only became mayor this year

Now what exactly are we claiming again?

Maybe @Sideshow Bob will come explain

We have people here who think that NYC has become a communist gulag under Zohan, and simultaneously is under Sharia law. Absurd as that may be.

It still seems ok though, hence the rating.
