SA Politics Part 14 - The New Dawn turns to Dusk

Makes sense I guess. You have to be on the ballot to get any votes and if there is nobody else to vote for even a few votes would win.
But investing resources means they think have a chance, which I personally don't think they do, especially Port St. Johns and Ingquza Hill (<5 % for each). More fertile ground in Sunday River Valley & Walter Sisulu municipalities with a solid 20% in each, but again, that is probably close to the max vote they will get given the demographics of the area. There is an obvious assumption that the DA think they can obtain some of the vote that previously went to the ANC. How true is that though?

Early data from the Central Energy Fund (CEF) for October 2026 shows that petrol and diesel prices are experiencing a massive under-recovery, which could result in another price hike this November.

Petrol is facing an under-recovery of R4.28 and R4.57 per litre, while diesel prices are set for an under-recovery of between R2.56 and R2.91 per litre.

This would put the price of both fuels at historic highs, with petrol and diesel reaching R34.82 per litre and R36.20 per litre, respectively.

If I remember correctly the analysis he is talking about showed that the DA was not even close in those municipalities, so they are going on hope more than sense.

Sounds hopeful. Maybe the petrol/grocery prices will make them vote DA or they all stay at home and only the DA voters come out.

If you are number 4 or 5, it honestly doesn't make any difference if all of your voters go out to vote, if the number 1 party isn't on the ballot, the second place party wins.

But the funders money must be spent, so there isn't a reason why they shouldn't take a chance here.

You said it. European political parties have decided that DA must conquer EC. See below conclusion from our resident guide.

DA, EFF and ANC all get generous 'donations' from European political partiest, even their official 'loans' from Europe are tied into agenda 2030, 2040 and 2050, this is no secret.
