US Army will livestream execution by firing squad, and Starlink satellite near misses in orbit

A livestreamed execution is not such a good idea imo. Many mass shooters mass shoot for the attention, media circus and infamy. A livestreamed execution is the ultimate form of global attention these savages crave and might lead to more of these mass shootings.

medieval vibes. Trump has lost his marbles.

You don't have to go that far back.

Public executions in France were spectacles well into the 20th century, with the last public execution (Eugen Weidmann) carried out in 1939. And the practice was only stopped because the government at the time became uneasy with the behaviour of those in attendance.

Four hours in advance, six hundred persons pressed toward the Place Louis-Barthou. There were catcalls and jests with the Mobile Guards and occasionally a wave of cheering and whistling. In two brightly lighted cafes waiters joked and perspired and piles of sausage sandwiches, prepared in advance, went steadily down.

Of interest, a young Christopher Lee attended the last public execution in France and it profoundly affected him.

June 17, 1939 wasn’t an ordinary summer’s day for Parisians, nor for 17-year-old Englishman Chrisopher Lee. Decades before portraying French executioner Charles-Henri Sanson in 1989’s ‘La Revolution Francaise,’ Lee had his own close encounter with what the French called their ‘National Razor.’

As Lee went to Saint-Pierre prison (today’s Palace of Justice) he didn’t know he was about to make his first, uncredited, appearance on film. In a cell on Saint-Pierre’s notorious Death Alley, German serial killer Eugen Weidmann was also about to take a bow. Weidmann’s appearance would be brief, but he played the starring role at what would be France’s last public execution.

Weidmann was there to die. Lee was there to watch. At a window overlooking the guillotine somebody else was there to film, illegally so. As executioner Jules-Henri Desfourneaux and his assistants (known as ‘valets’) prepared Weidmann for his date with history, Lee stood in the crowd not really knowing what he was about to see. He would never forget it.

Abolition had started to become an issue among the French people although decades would pass before the guillotine went the way of the thousands who died on it. The scenes of drunkenness and debauchery that were typical of public executions were grist to the abolitionist mill.

The crowd were less than respectful of what should have been a solemn occasion. Many were drunk, the cafes and bars having stayed open all night to make the best of a thirsty crowd. By dawn, the traditional time for French executions, some were already asleep and many others were remarkably intoxicated. Gendarmes were also having trouble maintaining order. All told, what should have been a solemn affair was more like a Roman holiday with many spectators drunk well before the dawn.

Weidmann certainly had and the crowd, still unmindful of the occasion, continued carousing while some dipped their handkerchiefs and scarves in Weidmann’s blood. These they kept as souvenirs. President Lebrun, long an opponent of the death penalty, was as appalled as the press at the exhibition. A week later he permanently outlawed public executions.

Humans are bloodthirsty, and always have been. If not bloodthirsty, many others have a morbid curiosity toward the macabre. Driven by my own morbid curiosity, I went through a phase of watching Mexican cartel torture-gore videos and it messed me up.

I don't watch gross videos of killings etc. I even block people sending stuff like that.

But live streaming this I have no problem with. I will not be watching, but his friends and "supporters" will probably. Hopefully they can see his face and he is scared, screaming or crying.
The world are too soft on criminals these days.
I would go further and say some of them like child murderers and molesters should be publicly burned alive.

This guy did it because was a Muslim extremist. Just as long as he gets the attention of Allah, all is well.

Your general point is not supported by the evidence.

. In addition to an overemphasis on severe psychopathology among those who carry out such acts, the specific triggers that precipitate mass murder have been stereotyped in the public eye. It is commonly believed, for instance, that mass murders are often triggered by bullying; work- or school-related grievances; a desire for attention; or in the context of poor social connections.

Our findings regarding motivating factors were highly consistent in terms of frequencies, irrespective of whether we examined mass murderers of all types, mass-shooters versus those who employed other methods, or mass-shooters based within versus outside of the U.S., and were generally consistent with the literature (Petee, Padgett & York, 1997; Dietz, 1986). In particular, criminal objectives, such as theft, killing individuals who might have served as witnesses to a crime or eliminating persons who impede some desired end, such as obtaining an inheritance, are common, especially in the U.S., as also reported by Petee, Padgett and York (1997). Most mass murder incidents, however, are impulsive in nature— a point that has implications for those seeking to prevent future mass murder by screening for persons potentially planning such attacks (Petee, Padgett & York, 1997). These attacks are largely associated with either sudden emotionality or some “last straw” event that precipitates expression of long pent-up affect, occurring in the wake of difficult life events or circumstances.

If the primers don't bind, the DNA polymerase enzyme can't synthesize copies, and no amplification occurs.
So no, PCR does not just find "something small." It acts as a target-specific search for a precise genetic code.
Yeah, but how do YOU know they're trees, and not just a figment of your imagination. Perhaps YOU've been subject to a state lobotomy.

??
There's a lot on this site that isn't SA related. What are you whining about?

They studied that particular case?

I think I can guess who's clone you are... welcome back, again

I'm patiently waiting for that MacBook update - hoping that IF they do a touchscreen it's multi-point touch and the OLED would be great. Not so sure it will be M6 though, but waiting with my cash in hand...

Firing Squad? Really? Gosh, I thought that went with hanging people. I was under the impression death sentance now is lethal injection (though from what I have seen about that woman, not always successful).

I guess it is a good method and pretty certain of the outcome. But to live stream it? No, I dont agree with that.

Are they going to put a blank in one of the guns so none of the officers know who actually shot the killing shot. I believe that is how it was done back in the days?
