Movie Mini-Review Thread - Part IV

Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026) 7.5/10

The new Spidey films continues the strong momentum from No Way Home (2021), this time we get a great deal more character-driven depth/insights than any of the prior films. An excellent supporting cast, massive emotional heft & a stack of intrigue. Tom Holland was a delight. If you're a Spidey guy this as is good at gets imo.

PS: Mind the stacks of product placement (Samsung & BMW).

PPS: Don't miss the end credit scene.

Fall 2: Deadpoint (2026) 5.5/10

Unnecessary sequel. The first Fall film had stacks of thrills, tense moments to keep you at the edge of your seat & finally a lekker played out twist. This second take is in some ways is more of tame but dialed down. The new characters are properly flat & the "twist" element this time was not as convincing.

A 3rd film is the works...WTF :cautious: 🧐

Spiderman Brand New Day
4/10
Hulk was the best minutes of the movie.
Glad I never paid to watch it in a cinema.
I just want a Spider-man film that's not sad. Like a happy go lucky Spidey film.
Guys either broke, GF moved on, GF died, Loss his job, losses his powers, gets fired, gets framed.

ok but what's your rating/review?
6/10. If Zendaya was not in the film , it would be an 8/10. If they actually adapted the "MAN-SPIDER" story fully (Which they were until the guys on top deemed it to "un kid friendly") and instead went partial "MAN-SPIDER" story. The original story leak was Man-Spider, then Hulk and Punisher team up to take Man-Spider down. They do, but a fatal shot "kills" the Man spider. They bury him and during Doomsday he is "dead". He then gets "reborn" for Secret Wars in battleword and climbs out of the grave like the infamous comic book cover in the ++++black suit+++++. The story got reworked and kept Hulk and Punisher.

The Man-Spider concept was considered for Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026), including a nightmare sequence and graphic mutation elements like organic webbing, fangs, and venomous spikes, but it was ultimately scrapped. [1, 2]
Tom Holland confirmed the idea was abandoned because the full body horror elements were considered too dark, intense, and gruesome for a younger audience, as the filmmakers wanted children to be able to enjoy the movie. Instead of a full Man-Spider physical transformation, Peter Parker's evolving powers remain more grounded in internal strain, heightened spider abilities, and organic webs.

Sunday's "lam on couch" & snack on pizza watch ...

Khaki Fever (2025) - 5/10 ... not what I expected ... definitely NOT a family movie. There was probably a few old aunties that b|tched about this one (you English bunch will not like this one)

Unabomber (2026) - 6/10 ... I was sort of invested in the story .. will probably not be for everyone.

Runner (2026) - 6.5/10 ... Enjoyed ... few stupid 'scenes', but I enjoyed the fighting (especially inside hospital)
Where do I get Khaki Fever except Showmax (spit)?

For the wife ofcourse........lol

Thanks.
