Movie Mini-Review Thread - Part IV

Just finished rewatching this movie again and it jerks me up every single time

solid 10/10

Matchbox: The Movie (2026) 6/10

A fun romp. Calling it a "Matchbox movie" is pushing it a tad. It's more along the lines of a F&F heist film with some Matchbox connection. Story was predictable. The supporting cast was good, Cena doing Cena things. I'll never pass on Jessica Biel screen time. Poor CGI needs to be called out.

Spiderman: Brand New Day

6/10, found the plot average. Not as bad as some Marvel movies of late, so kudos on that front.

Otherwise its a decent weekend watch, some good action and a few gags thrown in.

The Captain aka Der Hauptmann (2017)

German language. A true story. This movie is absolutely beautiful in black and white. The story is gripping from start to finish; the ease which man falls into depravity is wonderfully shown here. 7.5/10

Spiderman: Brand New Day (2026) - 7.5/10. Don't understand how some gave this a low rating. Right up there with the other Spidey movies. Has the touchy moments, action, decent fight sequences, Punisher, a Hulk encounter and character development. Plot maybe a bit on the thin side but I really liked it.
Fall 2: Deadpoint (2026) - 5.5/10. Not as good as the first one. Cinematography is nice. Actors not convincing enough. A few heart in mouth moments.

I was watching it on my phone while going down the stairs. It had quite an impact on me. 10/10

Colony (2026) - 6.5/10. South Korean "Zombie" horror. From the same director that brought us Train to Busan and Peninsula. Not as good as the first 2 movies i.m.o. but still a decent watch & delivers in thrills and scares. I put zombie in inverted commas as they are not the traditional ones. See for yourself. An enjoyable watch.
