Russo-Ukrainian War - 2022 Edition - Part 11

He [Putin] is not winning. The Ukrainians have really put pressure on him, and this is just another underlying reason why the Russians are trying to say to the Ukrainians and the Americans, well, stop attacking our refineries. They're not going to do that. They're [Ukrainians] going to keep attacking, as they should. It's a military operation. It's a war. They're attacking correctly -

i have to say, that does not look like a fuel tanker - i've seen, and been on many.
that deck is way too cluttered.
also rather small.
I had checked earlier before posting and it appears it is capable. Other option is carrying fertilzer, but why US would be importing fertilzer from Russia has never been mentioned.

Yes. The MINERVA ZEN (IMO 9410909) is a chemical/oil products tanker (also called an oil and chemical tanker).

These ships are built to carry refined petroleum products such as diesel and other fuels, as well as liquid chemicals (including fertilizers like UAN solution). It is Greek-flagged, built in 2009, about 183 m long, with a deadweight around 53,000 tonnes.

It is therefore a fuel-capable tanker by design and classification. Reports on its current cargo (diesel vs. UAN fertilizer) remain mixed, with some OSINT sources claiming diesel and at least one outlet stating it is fertilizer based on updated cargo information.

Turns out it could be fertilizer and permitted after all.

also on its way to wilmington:
Port Wilmington is a major Port and distribution center for liquid bulk petroleum products which are carried up the Delaware River by tanker vessels and tanker barges.

Buckeye PT Terminals L.P. owns and operates a state-of-the-art bulk petroleum terminal and storage depot at the Port. In 2009, Buckeye concluded a $72 million expansion project at their marine distribution facility at the Port of Wilmington and is now capable of handling and storing shipments of gasoline, ethanol, heating oil, fuel oil and many other types of petroleum products.
