Which are the best suburbs in Cape Town to live in today (working in CBD)?

That's extremely specific. Is that where you live? Or what makes this single suburb the absolute haven to be?
I lived there for 2 years and worked on the Foreshore. A very quiet suburb, with beautiful views. I never used my car to go to the CBD (buses were great, and if you have the energy, walking is good; roads can be a bit steep).

I suspect it's something you just gotta experiment with, trying out different routes and times.

Everyone has already experimented and found any and all back roads to skip traffic along major arteries to the point that those roads too are congested..

Trouble is, going into the CBD there's only really 4 roads leading in and they are all congested..

From what I've heard, it been decades for me, I don't wish Monday morning CBD commuting on my worse enemy.

Feel free to "correct me" if I've heard wrong.

This is a question for Cape Town locals.

For anyone not wanting to spend their life in Cape Town peak traffic, which are the best suburbs to look to live in if you're A) working in the CBD, and B) Not a millionaire.

As a related question, are real families finding MyCiti buses as viable alternatives to head into the CBD faster than taking a car? The network is impressive but I am not sure how the adoption is.
Dude... whats your price range because if you do have R50 mil then you can live in the Foreshore... but im assuming you don't.

What are we talking ? 3, 4, 5 mil ?

Before I buy anything I'm first planning to rent, just to get fresh local experience and figure things out for myself a bit. I don't need a house, just a secure two-bedroom apartment and off-street parking is my goal.

Good idea you have to rent first

Traffic in Cape Town sucks in general.

Motorcycle commuting makes a lot of sense here.

On the odd occasion I commute to the office, by car can take from 60 minutes to well over 90 minutes, and worse if a single traffic light is out, or of there is an accident or broken down car along the rout.
Commuting by motorcycle is around 35 minutes, pretty much regardless of what traffic is like.

Leaving early to get to office and again returning home works well, I did that for many years when we still went to office every day.
The exception may be Fridays, peak hour seems to start much earlier on Fridays in the afternoons.

it is fairly quiet, plenty of "green", close to cbd - and a really diverse range of accommodation options (plenty of old small apartment buildings - 6 - 8 units), on transport routes, generally clean and tidy - endless eating options (sit down & take out), sheltered from the wind . . . ,

A motorcycle is great to avoid being stuck in traffic, but it is not for people who like to be alive. If you enjoy being split in half from the ass up because an idiot in a car took you out, then a motorcycle is a great option.

That's a good idea. Have your money ready for when the bubble bursts.

There are loads of places you can live close to the city if that's all you are looking for.

If I was you I would look at one of these new developments. They have micro apartments but what people don't realise is that they have 2-3 bedroom options as well. They are expensive to buy but I see a lot of them have vacancies to rent.

Check out : Riverlands, The kingswood... there are a bunch of others in woodstock and Saltriver.

Riverlands is a great shout.

If I was a singleton looking for an apartment that would be the first place I would look.

Access to everything in walking distance and not too far from the CBD with reasonably easy access to the highways.

So far you have posted twice on this thread that I can see, and both posts are just bullshit.

Is this your thing?
