What has changed?
The Interior Department, which oversees NPS, said in a statement to CNN on Saturday, “The National Park Service is finally implementing a 7-year-old plan to address tree overgrowth at East Potomac Golf Course.
I let chatgp run with that. This process all started with research in 2016, in 2017 the inventory was completed, followed by a report in 2019.

Attributing the work done by NPS to Trump is misleading, this predates him and he's not smart enough to have 4D chessed that into his strategy.
I'm still not happy if healthy trees are chopped down, unhealthy ones and invasive species not.
Are you being serious right now? Who was the president 7 years ago?
What the hell does a 2017 landscape inventory have to do with any of this? None of your links even remotely propose what Trump is doing now.
2020: NLT plans to restore East Potomac Golf Course to Walter Travis’s design, to include reversibility of play. NLT will redesign and rebuild both the White and Red courses, redesign the driving range, construct an 18-hole putting course and restore the clubhouse.

2025: President Donald Trump's campaign to remake landmarks of the nation's capital in his image expanded into the realm of golf this week with his administration's termination of leases on Washington's three public courses.
Trump administration terminates leases for 3 public golf courses in Washington
The decision to end the 50-year lease comes as Trump seeks to leave his imprint on a variety of public facilities in Washington.
2026: President Donald Trump’s proposal to build a championship golf course in Washington, DC, could cost up to $49 million dollars, according to a document reviewed by CNN. The National Park Service outlined in the document that it will start soliciting bids to remake the public golf course in East Potomac Park into an 18-hole professional course in January 2027. The preliminary scope of the cost is estimated to be between $20 and $49 million.
It is one of numerous public construction projects around the nation’s capital that Trump has sought put his stamp on — and which have drawn intense public backlash and a multitude of lawsuits.
2026:
We write regarding the Interior Department’s plan to turn East Potomac Park, a public course on federal land, into a private trophy for Donald Trump. The Department has committed at least two new federal contracts worth up to $50 million and construction-related activity at the East Potomac Park Golf Course, the latest in Donald Trump’s collection of vanity projects. It has done so without notifying Congress, while cutting down trees in the middle of active litigation, and while a court is still deciding whether the project is lawful.
Some serious mental gymnastics going on for you to claim Trump has nothing to do with this.
