US Politics: Catering to Iran

You just stepped into some warm horse doodoo there.
Really? I never said that the raid was illegal (although it might turn out to be) I was commenting on how it looks when the guy in charge of Federal agencies, has publicly berated his opponent and then times a Federal raid just before an election. I know are the chief apologist for all things Trump, but do you not see how it looks in terms of abuse of power?

Did you object back then?
Trump didn't hold any public office at that time so the two things are quite different.

Wait, they raided his house weeks before he was due to participate in an election, when?
To be fair to the Trump supporters, Trump was charged in what can be legit named a move aimed at derailing his reelection ambitions by making ineligible. I think comments in that vein were made. The whataboutism has merit

He wasn't alive back then.

But...DID she.

We will soon see what the raid delivers.

Marrying her brother may be a tradition, but it is an illegal way to get citizenship.

PS> I am becoming a Dutch citizen next year...at a much older age. What is your point exactly re. Melania?
The point is that you are racist.

Trump didn't hold any public office at that time so the two things are quite different.

It applies to all candidates, not just people already holding public office. The distinction is between the informal pre-election convention and the DOJ's formal policy.
The Justice Department's inspector general explained that the unwritten rule was understood to discourage overt investigative steps or indictments involving political candidates near elections. It was not limited to elected officials.

The relevant categories are:
- Incumbents running for re-election: covered by the convention.
- Challengers running for office: covered too, even if they currently hold no office.
- Former officials running again: covered when they are candidates.
- Politically prominent people who are not candidates: not automatically covered simply because they are politically prominent, although the broader rule against politically motivated investigative timing still applies.

I know are the chief apologist for all things Trump...

PS I'm also a raving religious zealot according to Dave, why do this.
