Toyota SA's new Fortuner

Cant understand why they are keeping the fortuner in SA. With all the options it’s as expensive as a Prado for less car. Makes no sense. Who chooses a fortuner over the prado?

That said, the prado deserves a better engine and gearbox - but if they gave the prado the engine and gearbox it deserves, no one would buy the Lexus
Top of the range Fortuner goes for around 1 bar and Prado for around 1.4 - 1.5 bar, you can make the argument that the Fortuner is far better value for money.

The Prado is very overpriced in SA compared to other markets (which is the primary reason the fortuner was dropped in OZ and NZ), but I also highly doubt you will get a top of the range fortuner for 1Bar. GR Hilux costs more than that.

All-new Toyota Fortuner official reveal date confirmed

The all-new Toyota Fortuner will be revealed to a global audience soon. Details for the upcoming 2027 model year are slim, but spied shots of a testing unit gives us some indication of what we can expect…

Toyota South Africa has confirmed the official reveal date of the all-new Toyota Fortuner will take place on the 1st of December, 2026. Details about the new ladder-frame SUV remain limited ahead of the official reveal. However, recent spy images and industry reports offer valuable insight into what buyers can expect from the popular seven-seater model.

The official teaser image focuses on the rear profile. It reveals a modern LED light bar alongside updated tail-lamp accents. Industry sources suggest that Toyota will retain the underlying IMV ladder-frame chassis architecture. This platform also underpins the Hilux bakkie and the Land Cruiser FJ. Toyota engineered the chassis for high durability and harsh off-road usage, which remains a core selling point in market regions like South Africa.
